WINE MONDAY: 2011 Markus Molitor Wehlener Klosterberg Riesling Kabinett 150 150 David Rosengarten

2011 Markus Molitor Wehlener Klosterberg Riesling Kabinett, Mosel ($18.99)308094

There comes a time when all you want is a light, floral, off-dry German Riesling to drink in the garden, of a summer afternoon. That time is now! This wine is not one of the more profound Mosel Rieslings you’re likely to find—but my oh my is it delicious, light, ethereal, graceful, built for that garden. Floral-peachy nose, with some spicy hints. Medium-dry, in a really refreshing way. Good acidity, though not seething with it. Long dried-fruit finish, spotlighting dried apricot.

Wine4Food

A great wine for sipping by itself, but any light, summery food that has a bit of sweetness in it…chicken salad with raisins or grapes, perhaps?…would be an ideal mate.
