TLAstudio.com“I love the nose of this pale-gold twelve-year-old wine: petrol, to be sure, along with flowers, yellow fruits, toasted nuts, and a hint of funk. And yet there’s a youth and vitality about it. Slightly off-dry, but with spectacularly harmonious balancing acidity. Crisp and clean, like a bite of green apple. A little extra richness from the Mittelrhein position. Long, teasing finish as fruit and acid play tag all the way down your gullet. Glorious food wine: think roast pork and red cabbage, then think a million other things.

“Weingut Toni Jost (Mittelrhein)
There are those who call Toni Jost one of Germany’s very greatest wineries. Their region, the Mittelrhein, is not as well known as some others…but, as I discovered in February 2013, the Mittelrhein surrounds the much more famous Rheingau. And, in its best spots, the Mittelrhein wines can compete with anything from the Rheingau! Toni Jost wines were in the U.S. until 2008; it now falls to me (happily!) to reintroduce them!”
