This week I took off once again on what has become my “annual winter wine-buying trip”—my hunt for ever older, ever greater wines to sell as part of my Golden Ram Import business. Over two years, I’ve already built up an impressive portfolio of dry wines from Germany, crunchy Champagnes, foamy-dry Italian reds, plus Tuscan classics; this year, my team decided to send me for more French wine!
I didn’t argue!
I have just begun my romp through Burgundy, Alsace, and the Loire. Not only am I keeping copious notes on every sip, but I’m also documenting the munching so I can tell you all about both wine and food soon.
Please look for my coverage from France, including my first crack in Paris at Alain Ducasse’s renovated three-star at the Plaza-Athenée, where he’s drawing raves for his vegetable emphasis!
A tout à l’heure!
